Slow Cooker Garlic Sesame Beef
This slow cooker beef is the perfect weeknight dinner—it’s bursting with flavor from garlic sesame sauce, and it’s so easy to prepare. Serve it over rice, in tacos, or just eat it on its own!
The Starting Five
Five things to know before making this dish!
Low sodium beef broth is best for this; standard beef broth might taste a little too salty when paired with the garlic sesame sauce.
The green onions play two roles here: flavor and color. It’s important to add them into the slow cooker for flavor, but you can also add other robust herbs like cilantro or lemongrass to build even more flavor.
Boneless chuck roast chunks best here because they cook slightly quicker than a solid chuck roast. You can use a solid chuck roast, but it will need more like 6-8 hours in the slow cooker.
Once cooked, this dish will keep for up to four days in the refrigerator.
Serve this dish however you want—in tacos, over white rice, or even as a stew with a little more beef broth.
Slow Cooker Garlic Sesame Beef
Ingredients Makes 2-3 servings
2/3 cup of low sodium beef broth
3/4 cup of store-bought garlic sesame sauce, divided
1/2 cup of chopped green onions, divided
1 pound of chopped boneless chuck roast (I buy it like this!)
White rice, for serving
Directions
1. Add the beef broth, 1/2 cup of garlic sesame sauce, and half of the green onions to a slow cooker.
2. Whisk it to combine, then add the chuck roast chunks, and mix them to coat them in the liquid.
3. Cook the chuck roast on low heat for 4-5 hours or until it’s tender enough to shred with a fork.
4. Remove the chunks from the slow cooker, and shred them with forks. Add the shredded beef to a bowl, and toss it with the remaining half-cup of sauce. You can also add some of the juices from the slow cooker.
5. Serve the garlic sesame beef however you want; garnish it with the remaining chopped green onions (I also add sesame seeds!).
